Willow & Hazel - Knots and Lashings

  • White House Farm, Gt. Glemham Saxmundham IP17 1LS United Kingdom (map)

What to expect

Join our Spring workshop in the forest working with HaZel and Willow to learn traditional knots and lashings

This is a seasonal woodland based creative session. You will be guided through a range of knots and lashings for wildcraft, creating tripods and shelters, for example. You will learn the properties and folklore of willow and hazel, and how to safely harvest the materials using hand-tools. We will gather herbs to make lunchtime preparations and we will gather round the campfire to share a warming homemade soup and bread.

With a focus on habitat awareness, these small groups are carefully curated. You’ll be immersed within this pristine area of natural beauty with lofty Douglas firs, a spiritual Yew grove, elderly Larch trees, established Elms, ancient coppices of Sweet Chestnut and Hazel, characterful Oaks, fungi & lichen, tranquil birdlife, and the beloved homes of many woodland creatures.
