Sarah and Ann met whilst completing the Herbology diploma at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh. They enjoy sharing their knowledge and passion for identifying herbs and using them creatively in preparations.

Herbology is the study of botany and the positive actions and qualities associated with specific plants.

These plants can be taken in many different forms such as infusions, decoctions and other liquid preparations and they may be applied topically as salves and balms, massage oils, bath preparations and soaps.

Sharing a deep commitment to the grass roots tradition of plant use, Ann and Sarah’s abundant energy and exciting approach to plant lore contribute to a dynamic team which both informs and enthuses those around them, as shown but the wonderful feedback we receive…

Ann King

Ann’s love for all things outdoor and plant related started with a little square in her dad’s vegetable plot. Having moved around a fair bit, she enjoys mapping out natural plantlife in any new locality whilst absorbing relevant history and culture into the mix. Ann spent several years helping develop a local community allotment and kitchen for those with addiction issues whilst training to be a Social & Therapeutic Horticultural Therapist at Coventry University. The study of herbology was a natural progression on to the start of a wonderful adventure which has become Herber&Co.

Sarah Frances

Sarah had a rural childhood, driven by her mother’s homesteading life choices, which has led to a lifetime of gathering, cultivating, preparing and preserving plant produce. Before Herber&Co Sarah worked alongside her partner in their Arboriculture business, developing a deep passion for the conservation of natural landscapes, coupled with an intimate knowledge of our native flora. The natural remedial power of the herbs and plants that surround us is a subject close to her heart. They have become key players in an increasingly important, holistic approach to family life.
